About ResQNet.com

ResQNet.com, Inc. specializes in developing and marketing software products that give Graphical User Interface (GUI) connectivity to Mainframe and AS/400 systems. ResQNet.com's patented intelligent point-and-click front-end technology extends and enhances the reach and functionality of host applications through Web-enablement, improved user interfaces, and integration of business information with the Internet, intranets, extranets, and traditional Windows-based PCs. ResQNet.com's products provide easy to use drag-and-drop technology to add all the conveniences of a Windows like environment.

Extending the Reach of Host Computers

While desktop computers are becoming ubiquitous, over 70% of corporate business data is located on some half million "host" computers such as Mainframes, AS/400s, and high-end Unix platforms. These systems run the core applications for today's major corporations and government agencies and, for the most part, have evolved and are tailored to meet the specific needs of the organizations. Referred to as "legacy" systems, they are designed to move and process vast amounts of data reliably and securely, but lack the graphical look and feel of modern desktop applications.

As e-business and related applications grow, the need for corporations to maintain this type of high-powered, centralized and secure computer processing capability is increasing. At the same time, users want to access and use this data from conventional Windows-based PC's with user-friendly GUI's.

ResQNet.com bridges this gap by seamlessly integrating these disparate computing environments. The company's software provides organizations with the tools necessary to Web-enable their enterprise applications quickly and securely. By working with existing applications, ResQNet products eliminate the need to tamper with the code of business-critical core applications.

ResQNet.com's patented architecture requires no software installation at the client, requires no additional processing at the server or host, and provides customization without any need for scripting or programming. As a result, companies can deploy new e-business-enabled applications rapidly. Even non-technical users can customize a graphical screen in a matter of minutes.

The Market

As a result of the need to access host data from remote desktop computers, the web-to-host market is exploding. According to IDC, approximately 1.4 million desktop Web-to-host licenses were shipped in 1998 ¾ seven times the total installed base for all of the preceding years combined! Of the 1.4 million installations, 69% went to intranets, 27% to extranets, and 4% to Internet applications.

The dramatic growth is forecasted to continue, with 25 million new licenses forecasted for shipment in 2003. As Internet e-business and related applications grow, and users recognize the scalability, ease-of-use, and security of products such as ResQNet.com's GUI connectivity product - ResQNet, IDC predicts that over 1/3 of the 25 million Web-to-host desktop licenses in 2003 will be for Internet applications.

ResQNet.com Products

ResQNet.com's products are based on proprietary ResQ! screen recognition technology. The products include their own TN3270/5250 connectivity, or can be used with other connectivity packages.

ResQNet - Available as both a stand-alone application and as an add-on to IBM's Host On-Demand, ResQNet is a thin Java applet that provides on-the-fly graphical connectivity to legacy host applications on the Internet, intranets, and extranets. ResQNet provides all the conveniences of a Windows environment including mouse capability, macro buttons, customizable fonts and colors, drag-and-drop fields with re-sequencing of tab order, and context-sensitive help. Individual screens can be customized while users continue to access the application, and objects such as radio-buttons, check boxes, and lists, can be used in place of numerical menu choices and plain text fields. Information from different screens and applications can be combined on a single screen to streamline an application and increase efficiency. The ResQNet client runs completely within the browser at the client.

The latest feature of ResQNet, "Services on Demand," seamlessly exports requested host data to Windows-based server and desktop applications including MS Word, Excel, Access and Lotus Notes. Data can also be imported from SQL database servers.

ResQ32 - The Windows-based version of ResQ! is a connectivity product targeted at the desktop terminal emulator market. ResQ32, a traditional fat client, automatically provides a customizable GUI with a rich complement of plug-ins that increase functionality by integrating it with other programs and by adding services not provided for in the host application.

Company Background

ResQ! was originally developed in the early 1990's to meet user demands to incorporate a modern graphical user interface into legacy applications. CSI Complex Systems, Inc was the first to incorporate ResQ! into Banktrade, their trade finance software application. Today, ResQ! and Banktrade can be found in banks across North America, Europe, Latin America, Asia Pacific and the Middle East. Recognizing the broad-based appeal of the ResQ! product, ResQNet.com (then known as Advanced Transitions Technologies, Inc.) was formed and continued developing ResQ! into ResQNet and ResQ32.

In 1997, ResQNet.com became an IBM Business Partner, and in April 1998 IBM and ResQNet.com signed two agreements. The first agreement lead to the integration of ResQNet's default GUI into IBM's Host On-Demand connectivity product (beginning with v.3.0). In the second agreement, IBM became a global reseller and service provider of ResQNet for Host On-Demand. It has also developed partnerships with Electronic Documents International Corporation, Computer Generated Solutions (CGS), and Novell.

Today, ResQNet and ResQ32 can be found in banks, major corporations, universities, and government agencies across North America, Europe, Latin America, and Asia.

Future Trends

ResQNet.com's latest release of ResQNet has taken the functionality further than the graphical presentation and connectivity, as it now seamlessly integrates host information with server and desktop applications. The next step for the ResQNet product is bidirectional data exchange to enable users to integrate ODBC and JDBC-compliant databases directly with host data, eliminating the problem of incompatibility of data on different platforms. The result will be a homogenous computing environment where data and applications can be located on different platforms - yet users will be able to integrate the information.
