IBM and AT2 Work in Tandem to Provide Web-Enabling Technology
New York, NY (July 28, 1998) -- Today Advanced Transition technologies (AT2), Inc. announced that it has become an IBM Business Partner. Additionally, they announced the release of ResQ!Net for Host On-Demand, the fully automatic intelligent front-end designed and developed by AT2 to work in tandem with IBM's popular Java connectivity product, eNetwork Host On-Demand. IBM now sells and supports ResQ!Net worldwide.
"This announcement demonstrates how IBM is helping customers link the best of traditional IT with the best of the Internet to realize the benefits of e-Business, by providing simplified access to data and applications, and reducing cost of ownership through our eNetwork products," said Jeff Jaffe, general manager, IBM eNetwork Software and Security. "AT2 has a solid product in ResQ!Net, and, coupled with Host On-Demand, we're confident that this 100% Pure Java application will provide our customers greater flexibility in accessing their mission-critical host data."
Advanced Transition Technologies officially became an IBM Business Partner and third party application provider to IBM in April, 1998. Since then, the two companies have been working together to create awareness about the Web-enabling benefits of the two products.
IBM's Fortune 500 customers have been giving the duo excellent reviews. Major manufacturing and insurance companies have already implemented ResQ!Net for Host On-Demand to convert "green screens" to GUI on-the-fly with no programming and no access to source code. "We're proud of the relationship between IBM and AT2. The synergy created by ResQ!Net and Host On-Demand made the relationship a win for both sides," said James Shapiro, Executive Director in charge of Sales and Marketing for AT2, "We look forward to developing new products in conjunction with IBM to continue providing customers with first rate market driven-solutions."
IBM eNetwork Host On-DemandTM is a fast and easy-to-use Java-based solution that gives users secure browser-based access to a broad range of enterprise information on multiple hosts through several servers at one time. With Host On-Demand, customers can use their web browsers to take better advantage of corporate information and unlock the value of the Internet.
Utilizing Host On-Demand's 3270/5250 connectivity, ResQ!Net allows the user to download the applet within seconds, and maintain a persistent connection until the user logs off. In addition to the product's default GUI, which provides menu buttons and hot spots, users can optionally customize the screen presentation by adding new Web links, valid values, local help, fonts, macros, images, check boxes and more, using ResQ!Net Customization Studio (for an additional charge). One of the product's most popular features is "Get-to-the-Point", a facility that navigates users past pre-designated screens, such as redundant logins or those containing sensitive information that companies wish to hide from certain users.
"Our certified 100% Pure Java front-end technology extends the usability of current applications when accessed from the Web. It works right out of the box without any need for special software development to accommodate the Web," said AT2's President and COO Tod Yampel, who also invented the screen recognition technology.
Orders for ResQ!Net for Host On-Demand version 1.08 are now being accepted, and the product is available through regular distribution channels and through AT2. Level 1 and 2 customer support is being provided by IBM.
