ResQNet Integrates Host Data Into Windows Application

ResQ!Net 3.2 Graphical Connectivity Solution Extends Functionality

NEW YORK, NY (May 11, 1999) - ResQNet.com, Inc. today announced that it has extended the functionality of its graphical connectivity solution, ResQ!Net, to include "Services On- Demand." In addition to providing a graphical user interface (GUI) for text-based host "green screens," ResQ!Net Version 3.2 seamlessly exports host data into Web server-based applications such as MS Word, Excel, Access and Lotus Notes.

With "Services on Demand," ResQ!Net can communicate with any server-based application such as Active Server Pages (ASP) or Java Server Pages (JSP), delivering data for further reformatting and integration with other sources, then delivering back the results. This mechanism can also be utilized to retrieve data from SQL-type data sources on the Internet and intranets utilizing JDBC or ODBC.

Using ResQ!Net 3.2, companies can automatically combine information from the host system with client input, Web data, and even other NT-server data, and export the consolidated data into applications such as spreadsheets for further processing and display. An example of such an application is completing an MS Excel invoice template (complete with logo and formatting) with customer address and product ordering information exported from an AS/400 or Mainframe system.

"Mainframe computers, desktop PC's, and servers have traditionally existed as completely separate environments," commented Todres Yampel, president of ResQNet.com, Inc. "ResQ!Net 3.2 bridges this gap, seamlessly integrating Mainframe computer data with the Web and desktop PC's."

Services on-Demand Bridges the Mainframe Gap

When a client clicks a ResQ!Net Web-link button during a host session requesting, for example, an invoice, ResQ!Net sends the raw data to the appropriate processing agent. As the data is processed, information from other sources, such as ODBC databases, can be added. The data can then be formatted and returned to the user's browser in Web page form. Through a simple server-side script, ResQ!Net can invoke a Java applet to take the host data, automatically invoke a Windows application such as a spreadsheet or word processor, and export the data into the application. The operation is completely invisible to the user. As is always the case with ResQ!Net, the individual graphical display screens are laid out and designed purely though a drag-and-drop interface, with no programming required.
