ResQNet Releases V4 of ResQPortal Host-to-HTML Solution, Offering Faster Server-Based Customization of Web Screens

New Edition Saves Time by Eliminating Intermediate Work on PCs

NASHVILLE, TN (COMMON Conference & Expo, Booth 739, April 15, 2002) — ResQNet today announced the release of Version 4.0 of ResQPortal, its cross-platform HTML solution for Web-enabling mainframe or AS/400 data. The major enhancement is a new browser-based Remote Customization Studio that speeds screen customization by allowing developers to make all design modifications directly on the server rather than repeatedly switching between the server and a PC. This new capability and other upgrades accelerate the process of rejuvenating legacy green screens for online access by employees, vendors or customers without the time, expense and risks of reprogramming.

By giving users the ability to work directly on the server when customizing default HTML GUI screens generated from the host data, ResQPortal 4.0 enables developers to instantly view the effects of their revisions in a real runtime environment and make further adjustments without moving back and forth between machines. The new server-based customization also speeds the migration of files and folders by eliminating intermediary transfers to the local PC.

Customization work and runtime HTML are displayed side by side on a split screen for easy comparison. Customization can still be performed exclusively with ResQPortal’s drag-and-drop functionality or with a combination of drag-and-drop and scripting procedures.

ResQPortal 4.0 also adds a variety of other management, customization and interface enhancements. These include:

“The new Remote Customization Studio in the latest ResQPortal release makes it possible to transform legacy enterprise applications into custom-built Web screens faster than ever before, while also reducing costs,” said James Shapiro, Executive Vice President, ResQNet. “Our products have always enabled projects to be completed in record time without programming or compromising host code, and our new Studio expedites the process even more.”

ResQPortal is a graphical emulator that Web-enables legacy mainframe or AS/400 applications without the need for end users to download, install or configure anything on their PCs. The product utilizes a series of Java servlets to convert host data to default HTML GUIs or customized screens on the fly. End users can then transparently navigate host applications as if they were Web pages, complete with point-and-click functionality and other familiar Windows and Web conventions. Applications can also be customized for use in e-commerce environments.

ResQPortal is a cross-platform solution that will run under Web and application servers on Windows, Unix, Linux, OS/400 and OS/390. It is highly scalable, utilizes the same servlet to achieve TN3270/5250 emulation for both mainframes and AS/400s, is capable of integrating host data with multiple desktop and Internet applications, and can update and synchronize data from multiple sources in real time.

ResQPortal is sold as a complete package that includes the Remote Customization Studio, the server component, training and installation, along with 25 concurrent sessions. For more information, visit www.resqnet.com or demo@resqnet.com.
